Background
UTrain is a mobile and web platform that connects basketball coaches, athletes, and parents to organize and participate in training sessions. Born from a trainer’s real-world experience, it aims to remove administrative friction and create a nationwide hub for sessions, logistics, and progress tracking.
The vision: an accessible ecosystem where coaches plan and run sessions, players develop skills and game strategy, and parents easily enroll their kids—all in one place.
Challenges
Early builds inherited an outdated codebase and a React Native MVP that slowed iteration. UX inconsistencies across mobile and web, performance pain, and limited scalability threatened growth.
Requirements expanded beyond single sessions to large multi-field camps, extended schedules, and bundled session packages. Payments, refunds, and financial tracking needed to be robust. Push notifications, link sharing, and iOS performance issues also required a reliable solution.
